Seattle Luxury Travel Tips

Sitting on the edge of the Puget Sound, Seattle remains one of my
very favorite cities in the world, despite the fact I’ve traveled to at least 20 countries thus far. There’s just something about this evergreen gem that gets me. And it’s apparent, with almost 40 million visitors per year, that I’m not the only one craving that Pacific Northwest vibe. Seattle is known for its casual, earthy, maybe even ‘grungy’ aesthetic, but it’s definitely no stranger to a little opulence. Whether you’re planning a trip or even a staycation (for the locals), consider upgrading your Seattle experience, even for just a few days to enjoy the finer side of the city. Today I’m sharing the best tips for a luxury holiday in Seattle…

TRANSPORTATION

The best way to truly experience a city is to have the freedom to explore. I suggest car2go, which offers one-way carsharing, making it easy to hop in the car and go – without the hassle of waiting for a bus, taxi or standing in a rental line. You simply use the car2go app to locate, unlock, drive and park the car2go within a city’s Home Area.  It’s available 24/7, allowing you to pay by the minute. Plus it includes fuel, parking, insurance, and vehicle maintenance. Here’s why I recommend it for Seattle luxury travel – car2go just launched their Mercedes-Benz GLA & CLA fleet, including them in their existing fleet of smart cars. With Mercedes you’ll have a lavish option that includes more space and comfort.

LODGING

Nestled on top of Pier 67, The Edgewater is Seattle’s only waterfront hotel and is known for it’s quintessential and luxe PNW experience. Originally built in 1962 for the World’s Fair, The Edgewater has hosted some of the most affluential guests, including both The Beatles and Rolling Stones. With captivating views and beautifully authentic designs, The Edgewater is easily one of the most luxurious hotels in Seattle. Plus, it’s within walking distance to some of the most iconic landmarks in the city, including the Space Needle and Pike Place Market.

FOOD

For brunch, hop in the car and head to Salty’s on Alki Beach, which has been voted both Best Brunch in Seattle and Best Waterfront Restaurant, offering world-famous Northwest favorites, in addition to a ‘Build Your Own Mary’ bar.

For dinner, you must try Circadia, one of Seattle’s newest restaurants that embodies refined luxury and classic glamour. The Italian marble walls, crushed velvet upholstery and onyx floors transport you to an elegant oasis parallel with their exquisite culinary techniques. I recommend their six course Chef Tasting Menu and beverage pairing.

COFFEE

It wouldn’t be a true Seattle experience, if I didn’t mention coffee! If you’re looking to gain some java knowledge and enjoy an afternoon of being a roast connoisseur, check out the Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room on Capitol Hill. Known as a ‘one-of-a-kind shrine…that captures the past, present and future of Starbucks,’ you can chat with local coffee specialists, enjoy unique beverages or try a Brew Comparison Flight (my preference!).

WINE

Next to coffee, Seattleites also have a love affair with really good wine. Which is why I’m adding this to your travel itinerary! Seattle Urban Wineries is a collective of over 20 award-winning artisan wineries that offer the best Washington vineyards have to offer.

ART

SAM (Seattle Art Museum) has been an institution of fine arts since 1933, with over 25,000 pieces in its collection. The exhibits include Asian, African, Ancient American, Ancient Mediterranean, Islamic, European, Oceanic, Asian, American, modern and contemporary art, and decorative arts and design. Additional information and hours are available HERE.

SHOPPING

Downtown Seattle offers an eclectic array of storefronts, boutiques and department stores, however, if you’re looking for an upscale shopping experience, head to The Shops at The Bravern in Bellevue. It’s only a short 20 minute drive from downtown Seattle and includes luxury retailers like Neiman Marcus, Gucci and Prada, to name a few. They also have a collection of dining options and a complimentary concierge.

FITNESS

If you’re looking to maintain your routine while on holiday consider a yoga class at Breath Body Soul, or run along the waterfront from Pier 50 to Pier 70, which provides about a 30-60 minute workout. Along the way, you’ll pass the Seattle Great Wheel, the Washington State Ferries terminal, along with a multitude of experiences like the Seattle Aquarium. It’s a great way to get a logistical feel of the city.

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

And last but not least, my recommendations for a few travel essentials when visiting Seattle…

I’m a fan of convenience and coordination, so the cinda b collection fit my needs perfectly for a weekend trip. I love the Everyday Backpack, Carry-On Rolly and Traveling Bowler in Noir. They’re ultra-light, water and stain resistant and machine washable!

I hope you’re feeling inspired to experience the beautiful Emerald City of Seattle, whether you’re traveling across the country or enjoying a well-deserved staycation. A luxury Seattle respite is well within your reach with the tips I provided. Take time for yourself or with your family and just relish in a few nights of luxe living.
