MUSEUMS / EXHIBITS / ACTIVITIES

LegoLand Discovery Center: Serious fun, for both kids and adults. Interactive in every way, with hands-on building, exploration, 4D movie theatre, and rides. Schedule your visit online, and try to book the earliest time slot as it gets busy.

Science City at Union Station: This place has it all. Hands-on learning and plenty of room to explore. Fun for all ages.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art/Outdoor Sculpture Park: With excellent weather, we spent most our of time in the outdoor sculpture park. Run, explore, relax. We especially enjoyed attempting to navigate the glass maze. Even better, museum admission is free.

The County Club Plaza: Grab a coffee and a treat for the kids and enjoy the fountains, architecture, live music and street performers, shopping, and dining.

Blanc Burgers + Bottles: Who can say no to sweet potato fries that arrive at your table in a shopping cart? Lettuce-wrapped bison and Berkshire pork and Kobe beef burgers are perfect after a day of travel and exploring the city. Voted Best Burger in Kansas City.

Parisi Cafe at Union Station: The perfect place to grab a coffee after walking around Union Station and an afternoon at Science City.

Brio: The location is ideal, with or without kids. On good weather days, we love getting a balcony table overlooking the plaza and live music. Order the house burger wrapped in lettuce, and don’t forget to ask about their roasted green beans. Seriously, the green beans.

Kaldi’s Coffee on The Plaza: It’s easily becoming one of our go-to coffee stops while in Kansas City. It’s a great location and the perfect place to grab a quick cup and get back to shopping.

WHERE TO SLEEP / WORKOUT

Embassy Suites Olathe: Open less than a year, this new hotel boasts the latest redesign for Embassy Suites. The suites are spacious, modern, and perfect for kids. The complimentary gym and freshly-made breakfast makes it easy to keep up with routines while on the road. Our only disappointment was the swimming pool; it fills up quickly and is too loud.
